Crissante Alessandria

Crissante Alessandria was founded in 1958, when Crissante and his wife Teresa decided to make wine from their family’s vineyards in La Morra, in the heart of Barolo.

Until then, the family had sold grapes to some of the region’s most renowned estates, but they recognized the extraordinary potential of their own land.

The first wines were produced from Roggeri and Capalot crus, made in a traditional style. Over the following decades, the family expanded their holdings, and by the 1980s they were able to bottle Roggeri and Capalot as separate cuvées. In 2007 they added a unique parcel in Galina, which is also vinified individually.

Today the estate farms around six hectares, producing Barolo Roggeri, Barolo Capalot, Barolo Galina, Barolo La Punta Capalot Mac Magnum, Dolcetto d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba Superiore “Rugè”, Langhe Nebbiolo and Nebbiolo Rosé. Vinification remains largely traditional, with long fermentations, pump-overs and punch-downs, and the wines age in a thoughtful balance of small, medium and large oak casks. The style is elegant and aromatic, with an emphasis on fruit purity and layered complexity.
