Hol Ysteri
Hol Ysteri is a family-run cheesemaker in the mountains of Hallingdal, with roots going back to 1989 when the Stenberg family moved from Osterøy, bringing with them goats and generations of cheesemaking tradition.
From their early days producing goat’s cheese on the summer farm at Prestholt, through years of challenges and renewal, they have stayed true to the craft of handmade Norwegian cheese.
Today, Hol Ysteri produces a wide range of award-winning goat’s and cow’s milk cheeses, including their celebrated “Leirgrøv,” which won gold at the Norwegian Championships in its very first year. Their cheeses reflect both heritage and innovation, crafted with milk from their own herd and in close collaboration with neighboring farms.
More than just a dairy, Hol Ysteri has become a hub for local food and community. With a farm shop, café, catering, and the annual “Haustmarknaden” food and craft festival, they bring people together around real, honest flavors rooted in the landscape of Hallingdal.
